Web 2.0 for designers
When speaking of Web 1.0, contents for large readers were created by small
writers. So, people could in fact collect all of the information by simply visiting
the source : Adobe.Com for issues related to graphics, Microsoft.com for any
windows related issues, and CNN.com for anything related to News. So, over the
period of time, more number of readers had developed. The effect was interested
as people had a lot of information so that they could keep themselves informed.
It was not possible for us to visit each and every site personally due to lack
of time. So with the increasing possible it became very much clear that the
Web 1.0 had to be changed.
On entering the Web 2.0 you may always come across piece of information which
is easily broken down into smaller fragments and distributed over a number of
domains. Presently web data has managed to emerge from web documents. So this
makes the possibility of us to look into better possibilities of developing
ways to aggregate and remix in useful ways.
All of these tools easily are compatible with Web 2.0 and shall become the
frontier when designing on web.
There are a number of evidences in RSS feeds, portals, search engines, applications
with API and web services where the data like SOAP, XML-RPC can easily be accessed.
You can also see much better features when using Google Maps. Flickr’s
interface is one such loved feature. Programs like Del.icio.us are ones that
offers a wide variety of social and personal functionality.
Web 2.0 has been described as “Web platform” so, thinking of web
as a platform for interaction, we can see the way it interacts with designs.
We can think of it as contents that can be placed in three different categories
– governments, companies and individuals – based on which we can
the information can be combined into a single domain like no other. So, you
can combine database of Amazon.com making it accessible to external world. You
can personalize the contents of this with other data and try creating more useful
tools.
